SUMMARY
Responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance and overall support of the Company's production server systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows O/S in a mixed Unix and Windows LAN/WAN environment.
  • Working knowledge of Cisco IOS, Cisco PIX OS and Linux.
  • Perform the installation, repair and preventative maintenance of server hardware, software and/or peripherals.
  • Perform all server hardware/software moves, additions, installations and changes.
  • Ensure that all installed software is compliant with purchased software licenses.
  • Assist in monitoring the physical performance of server hardware, software and/or peripherals, suggesting optimization possibilities.
  • Track and respond to problems in a timely manner.
  • Deliver quality support in a finite time frame, successfully dealing with problems arising from unexpected or unforeseen technical difficulties with hardware, software and/or peripherals.
  • Keep pace with new developments and industry trends in personal computing systems, hardware technology and software patches/updates.
  • Complete tasks assigned by the Systems Supervisor on a timely basis with minimal supervision.
  • Communicates essential information to the employees within the department and/or within the Company.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY
Must posses the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
